FAQs

  1. How do I find the keywords to create a Topic Authority report?

There are lots of keyword research tools out there that offer different approaches to interpreting keyword data. As most of these tools rely on data from Google Keyword Planner or Clickstream data, we recommend that you go straight to the original source.

  2. How often should I run a Topic Authority report?

The resulting graph from Topic Authority is a snapshot of Google’s results for a given location at a point in time. The results are not refreshed automatically and so once a graph is created it’s form will not change, whilst Google’s results may. This means that the output is static and the report needs to be reanalysed at future points when activity has been completed or the ranking algorithm has shifted significantly.

  8. Why doesn’t Topic Authority Use AI?

Many SEO products use AI and Natural Language Processing [NLP] to compare and group keywords, so why doesn’t Topic Authority?

Topic Authority analyses the actual results from your keywords to help you understand how Google understands them. This means the insights we provide are grounded in the real world.

The benefits of this approach are

    1. Greater Accuracy: By analysing actual search results, Topic Authority uses real-world data on how Google interprets and groups keywords. This can be more accurate than relying solely on AI or NLP analysis, which might not perfectly align with Google’s ranking logic.
    2. Improved Adaptability: Topic Authority directly analyses search results so it can adapt to changes in Google’s algorithms and ranking factors. This ensures your SEO strategy stays relevant as Google evolves its search behaviour.

These two benefits offer a strong foundation for your SEO efforts. By understanding how Google perceives topics based on real data, you can optimise your content for the most relevant keywords and improve your search ranking.

  9. What does a topic represent in the Topic Authority report?

Topic Authority analyses the SERPS for all of the keywords you add to your report and assigns a similarity score for each of the other keywords. Based on this similarity score the keywords are grouped into Topics using the Louvain Method.
